In 1997 Kenner Toys, which was already taken over by Hasbro Toys, decided to make the Princess Leia collection featuring a Han Solo in a PVC (leatherette) coat and Princess Leia wearing a lace robe. The collection, now nearly 30 years old was part of Kenner-Hasbro's Lucas Arts Licensing agreement which was rumored to be over 1B$ in 5 years. Many toy companies went on to create expensive proposals to Lucas Arts including two toy companies I worked for, Toy Biz Inc and Playmates Toys. In the long run the incumbent won the license as Hasbro bought not only Cincinnati-Based Kenner Toys, but San Francisco-based Galoob Toys which were both early licensees and there was even a rumor that George Lucas himself had invested in Galoob Toys in its time before they joined with Kenner to become one of Hasbro's many company brands and leading it to become one of the biggest toy companies in Toy Industry history.
